The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) provides comprehensive, no-fault personal injury cover for all New Zealand residents and visitors to New Zealand.
When you see a specialist, your assessment is fully covered by ACC, as is any high-tech imaging (MRI scans, CT scans etc). Once you have decided to proceed with surgery, a further request has to be made to ACC to fund your surgery.
Ram will complete an Assessment Report and Treatment Plan (ARTP). For simple conditions, the approval will usually be through within 3-4 weeks. For more complicated assessments the processing time can be eight weeks.
Just because ACC have covered your initial injury and your specialist review, it does not mean that you will automatically get your surgery request approved. You will receive an approval or declination in the mail from ACC. If approved, you can simply contact the office to schedule your surgery.
If you are declined by ACC, you can either lodge an appeal against the ACC decision, use health insurance if you have it, self fund, or be referred to the public health system by your GP. If you would like Ram to help you decide which option is best for you feel free to book another appointment as ACC will fund one extra clinic visit even if you have been declined.
